This includes abruptly abandoning his girlfriend who has no idea what is going on. The assassination, paid for by a foreign mining company, triggers wide spread chaos and death in an already inflamed Congo. Terrier returns to the Congo years later working for an NGO, but eventually finds himself to be the target of a paid hit squad somehow connected to the ministers assassination. This leads to immediate deaths and the endangerment of the people working around him, and forces him back into hiding. In trying to discover who has put a price on his head, he begins to reconnect to the members of his old assassination team, including his old girlfriend. The Gunman Full Movies Review
Pierre Morel's "The Gunman" is such a menial cinematic actioneer that it isn't even worth existing.
Being that it's from the same guy who brought us "Taken" back in 2008, which at least had
occasional bouts of excitement and peril, it's amazing to see a film by him so sterile and feeble.
Worst of all, the film feels so much like a cut and paste effort to please studio executives with
another beginning-of-the-year action release, made up of odds and ends men in suits think we'd
like to see over what we'd actually like to see, that it's as if we're watching
a film nobody asked for.

One of the few positives of "The Gunman" is that it gives Liam Neeson time to take a hot bath
and lather his entire body with Icy Hot. Sean Penn, the latest candidate in this exhausting line
of aging action heroes proving they can keep up with guys half their age, steps up to the plate
here, playing Jim Terrier, an ex-soldier living in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Jim works
for a humanitarian organization, and, one day, creates civil unrest and turmoil by assassinating
a corrupt official for a foreign mining company. Following the event, we pick up eight years later
where Jim's wife (Jasmine Trinca) is now his ex-wife, married to his former coworker Felix
(Javier Bardem in perhaps his weakest role yet), his health is greatly deteriorating with chronic
headaches and fainting, and goons out to make him repay for his assassination in the Congo.

Penn is almost always the center of attention in "The Gunman," which is fine, as Penn has proved
through diverse roles he's capable of carrying a movie, but the talent on display here is really
cut short and given stupid, half-baked roles to fill. Bardem is laughable, as he spends some
of his desperately little screen time drugged out of his mind, Idris Elba shows up just when you
think the studios forgot to erase his name off the poster for less then eight minutes, and Ray
Winstone, who plays Terrier's longtime friend, isn't given enough time on screen either,
even though every time he appears he gives "The Gunman" some sort of life and drive.
Why pay the actors so much and give them prominence on the poster when they you give them
nothing to do and make their appearance nothing more than a glorified cameos? We're living
in an age that's beginning to disprove the power of the Hollywood star system, yet Hollywood
doesn't want to believe that.

Not to mention, the aging action hero concept is not only dying out, but it's getting to be an ugly
retread. "The Gunman," in a way, feels like a direct replica of the Kevin Costner aging action
hero vehicle "3 Days to Kill" that simmered in publicity before anyone got a chance to buy
a ticket (though it's one of the few of the genre very much worth seeing, more so than any
"Taken" installment). From the way Penn's character passes out and gets overcome with
headaches and dizziness and the state of denial his character lives in, "The Gunman" is very
much like the failed clone of that film. The main difference, however, is while the drama in
"The Gunman" feels like a nonsensical, love triangle convention, "3 Days to Kill" used its drama
as a route of humanization. The "aging action hero" concept has prevented the early retirements
and the wealth of endorsement possibilities for people like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester
Stallone, Liam Neeson, Kevin Costner, and now Sean Penn, as a means to make a living, but it's
a concept as worn as the joints on all those men.

I feel like erasing my entire review of "The Gunman" and replacing it with Leonard Maltin's review
of "Scooby Doo 2: Monster's Unleashed," which ranks as one of the shortest film reviews ever
written. "It is what it is," Maltin simply surmised on the film, an oversimplifying statement I try
my hardest to avoid in life and in writing, but here, it applies greatly. "The Gunman" is what you'd
expect: the acting is a collection of star-powered mediocrity, the action on display is surprisingly
gory, but wholly unsatisfying in the sterile way it is carried out, Frédéric Thoraval's editing is all
over the place, and the themes explored in the film are about as generic as the film's title.
Whether or not you'll enjoy it depends on how desperate you are to see violence, in which case,
I'm sure there's something on TNT later tonight that will serve your need for an adrenaline rush in
a much more effective way, and you won't have to pay any more than you already are to see it.

Jupiter Ascending Full Movie Download

A young woman discovers her destiny as an heiress of intergalactic nobility and must fight to protect the inhabitants of Earth from an ancient and destructive industry.
Directors: Andy Wachowski (as The Wachowskis) , Lana Wachowski (as The Wachowskis)
Writers: Andy Wachowski (as The Wachowskis) , Lana Wachowski (as The Wachowskis)
Stars: Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne | See full cast and crew

Storyline
Jupiter Jones was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people's houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine Wise, a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along - her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

When I give this film a 6, it's being a bit generous. Trying to put myself in other people's shoes, I'd say this film probably range anywhere from a 3 to a 5, and then there will be those who hate it. Still, I am likely to lean on the side of one of the few who likes the film. But it's a mixed bag. Sure enough, the special effects, action, and other elements are fantastic. But the film does little to develop it's own character beyond their archetypes and the script seems content to stay average at best.

Jupiter Ascending actually paints a pretty fascinating sci-fi universe. As it turns out, Earth, and thousands of other worlds like it, are owned by a number of different families which act like corporations who seed these worlds. Once the worlds become over populated, their people are harvested to create a youth serum which keeps those living in the corporate society young for millennia after millennia. In this case, the Abraxis family is one of the most powerful and each of three heirs is vying for control of Earth. Standing in their way, however, is Jupiter Jones, who turns out to be the genetic reincarnation of the Abraxis' sibling's mother, and claimant to the throne of the family.

If all of that sounds like a lot to take in, it is, and easily the best part of the film. The Wachowski's have a talent for creating fascinating worlds that feel complete. Here, they have created a massive sci-fi universe the likes of which we haven't seen in at least a decade, maybe longer. It's very clear that their ambition extends beyond just this one story. In fact, there are hundreds of fascinating stories that could be told about this universe. The idea of a corporate controlled universe is timely, and where we've seen this story played out before about the giant corporation versus the little guy, it's never quite been told on this scale.

It's a shame then that this ambition is wasted on a story that doesn't seem to capitalize on such a universe. The story is good, but the script is lacking and the characters never really become all that interesting. They end up feeling like caricatures meant to introduce us to this world we've entered. They're histories are explained and they clearly have fleshed out back stories, but they feel almost lifeless in that they seem to be here only to be an aspect of this world and not a full character. Even as a lead character, Channing Tatum as Caine feels like little more than a body meant to perform choreography and defend Milas Kunis' Jupiter. At the very least, Jupiter is a sympathetic character who shows shades of change, but even she often feels like little more than a narrator meant to ask question for exposition purposes. Eddie Redmayne seems to have the juiciest part, and though he still seems to be a one dimensional villain, he shows emotional depth that the other characters lack.

Most people I suspect will have trouble forgiving the lack of a truly meaningful script and characters that are too one dimensional. But the good news is that the film isn't a complete loss. The action, which the Wachowski's have proved to have a handle on, is fantastic. This is Star Wars level stuff, with space battles and well choreographed martial art duels. The cool tech thrown in, like the gravity boots, add some imaginative spice that once again shows the Wachowski's propensity for finding ways to justify making a 12 year old's imagination a reality. It's some truly fun stuff. Likewise, the world we're introduced to looks fantastic. The special effects make believable some very interesting and exciting details, such as the multitude of gadgets and weapons we're witness to. It's clear that the Wachowski's have set out to create a unique universe, and in my estimation, they have succeeded. I'm a sucker for this kind of world crafting, and so they get higher marks from me.

Of course, I can see why the film was pushed back to the dumping grounds of February. This was meant to be a summer blockbuster, but up against so many big, successful films, it would have a hard time competing. I have the distinct feeling this is going to be a film that gets left behind this year, especially in favor of bigger films being released throughout 2015. Had the film been more focused on it's characters and less on exposition of the universe we're witnessing, then I feel it could have succeeded and become a modern sci-fi classic. But as is, it falls short. Honestly, I do hope for a sequel to this, if only to see this universe continue to get development. Perhaps a sequel would fulfill the ambition the Wachowski's clearly seek to build upon.

After stealing a mysterious orb in the far reaches of outer space, Peter Quill from Earth, is now the main target of a manhunt led by the villain known as Ronan the Accuser. To help fight Ronan and his team and save the galaxy from his power, Quill creates a team of space heroes known as the "Guardians of the Galaxy" to save the world.
Guardians of the Galaxy Movies Reviews
Guardians of the Galaxy is nothing short of an amazing movie. If there's anything I can say, it's that it is the best superhero movie I have seen. Not only does it have the impressive set pieces and enough action to last you a lifetime, it has an emotional core and you actually get to care about each and every single character. Overall this movie is filled with all the required thrills and spills and is a first class action movie. It also has a great mixture of comedic value and a deal of seriousness.

The film's unlikely hero is Quill (Chris Pratt), an eccentric gunfighter in the Han Solo mould who we meet stealing a metal orb coveted by the evil warlord Ronan. When he dispatches his top assassin, the green- skinned Gamora (Zoe Saldana), to recover the artifact, the pair find themselves locked up, along with the galaxy's most unlikely bounty hunters – a gun-toting raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and his sidekick (Vin Diesel) who just happens to be a walking tree. All the actors do a great job at portraying there characters, they feel real beings. You get to know about them and their struggles and you become attached to them. Every character in the movie got their time to shine, especially Rocket Raccoon who is voiced perfectly by Bradley Cooper. Everyone is pitch perfect in their roles even Batista!

For those that want specifics: effects were top notch, acting was excellent, story lines were compelling, the comedy was perfect 99.5% of the time and surprise there were a lot of one line typical superhero zingers that worked really well. What really can't be stressed enough is just how insanely fun and entertaining Guardians of the Galaxy is for literally its entire two-hour-plus run-time. I still have a hard time wrestling with who was my favorite actor in this. all in all, the film is brilliantly well done, action scenes are engrossing and genuinely done, you genuinely worry about certain characters and I for one was thrilled with it. Go see this.

Big Hero 6 Movie Reviews

Brilliant movie, completely based on the life of people living inside of a PC computer, Delhi- 6. Brilliantly produced by Walt Disney Anime Studio spreading the message "how our beliefs, thinking, superstition, greed, anger and hatred increases the power of plastic robot which is hidden within us." This plastic robot is the one responsible for these riots, hatred and all other bad things prevailing in us. This is the one who uses us against each other. And we are the only one who can stop all this, God will help us only if we want to, just saying that God will make things right is not going to work. Its us who have to take this responsibility.

But enough about the film's message. With a different style than either Bollywood's Dixar or Hollywood's Pixar in this movie it is looking pretty beautiful. Nice voice acting by Paul Briggs, Divya Dutta and other cast members along with brilliant direction makes this movie worth watching.

This movie is a good combination of comedy, drama, romance, thrill and emotions. If you are looking for another hit movie directed by Disney after Tangled, you have just reached that point.

Mobster and hit man Jimmy Conlon has one night to figure out where his loyalties lie: with his estranged son, Mike, whose life is in danger, or his longtime best friend, mob boss Shawn Maguire, who wants Mike to pay for the death of his own son.

Director: Jaume Collet-Serra
Writer: Brad Ingelsby
Stars: Liam Neeson, Ed Harris, Joel Kinnaman | See full cast and crew.

Storyline

Professional Brooklyn hitman Jimmy Conlon is more commonly known as THE GRAVEDIGGER. Jimmy was a mob hit-man, who was best friends with his boss Sean Maguire. But when Jimmy's son, Michael, is marked for death by the mob, Jimmy must go up against Sean to protect Michael at all costs. Together, he and Michael must avoid corrupt cops, contract killers and the mob to survive the night.

Liam Neeson plays retired hit-man, James Conlon, and it's one of the finest roles he's played in years with a great performance, and with additional superb acting from Joel Kinnaman, whom plays his son, Mike Conlon. The first 'Taken' may have turned out great, until it launched a franchise, but 'Run All Night' is a definite improvement over Neeson's latest work, and a major improvement over clichéd action movies released in the past decade. What makes it so good, is that Neeson brings company with him: his co-star Kinnaman who plays his son
  • and it's a different movie experience altogether as in most clichéd
action thrillers the main protagonist, usually played by a familiar action star, is usually without company the whole way through. The character James Conlon is so similar to Jimmy Bobo, a part Sylvester Stallone played in a movie called 'Bullet to the Head'. Jimmy Bobo was an ageing hit-man who still made hits on assignments, but compared to Conlon, he's more emotionless and merciless. Neeson's Conlon still had good in his heart somewhere, whereas Bobo cared more about killing and seeking vengeance. However, the action sequences are enjoyable and thrilling, acting is great and the direction and screen writing becomes intriguing whenever the main plot kicks in - so Run All Night has what it takes of being one of the most exciting movies of the year!

Storyline

Epic adventure Exodus: Gods and Kings is the story of one man's daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.
This is one of the most historically inaccurate films in the history of cinema.

Exodus: Gods and Kings Reviews

Where do I start? Not only was the film filled with horrible direction and acting (minus a few scenes with C B).
Overall the film was impassioned.
I was generous by giving it 1 star; although zero wasn't an option.
With this type of budget - they could have created a more accurate film with better directing.
I hope that next time a Hollywood movie is made about religious or historical events they at least make the minimum effort to create something worthy of even being viewed.

Kingsman: The Secret Service Reviews

Without feeling like I am overstating things I can honestly say that this movie surpassed my expectations... Not that they were set low to begin with, but none-the-less.

All of the actors played their parts very well... it has great action and enthralling heroes and villains alike yet, in the mix of all of it, the movie doesn't take itself to seriously.

If you have not taken the time to get to a theater to see this I highly recommend you do. It is one of the best movies of this genre you will have ever had the pleasure to have seen! Without a doubt, this is a definite MUST SEE!

In the near future, crime is patrolled by a mechanized police force. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself.

Director: Neill Blomkamp

Stars: Sharlto Copley, Dev Patel, Hugh Jackman | See full cast and crew

Storyline:

In the near future, crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. When one police droid, Chappie, is stolen and given new programming, he becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. As powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind and order, they will stop at nothing to maintain the status quo and ensure that Chappie is the last of his kind.

Chappie Movies Reviews

Upon seeing so much hype of Neill Blomkamp's latest project, Chappie, I had to see what his follow-up from past hits like District 9 and Elysium can do. When I did, the movie itself further left me puzzled, but kept me engaged in the action scenes. The idea of a robot who was originally programmed for serious community work with no sentient purposes seems to follow the trail left behind by past robot-based films like 'Wall-E,' 'I, Robot,' and notably 80s comedy 'Short Circuit.' Blomkamp film regular, Sharlto Copley certainly delivered such an amazing motion-capture performance as the innocent, yet gifted robot Chappie.

Comparing Chappie to Johnny 5 in terms of witty humor is something that has been done before, but the action sequences began to remind me of the intense, anarchic moments shown in Blomkamp's District 9, which is kind of the recurring themes in his previous projects. 'Slumdog Millionaire' star Dev Patel plays inventor Deon who reprograms one of the decommissioned robots (along with the assistance of two individuals of South African rap-rave group Die Antwoord) leading to Chappie seeing them as his parental figures as well as him focusing on the concepts of compassion, existentialism, and even nonconformity. It now proves that Chappie can be much more than just an obedient robot, but can actually express himself in ways the average human cannot comprehend.

The villain (played by Hugh Jackman) considers this sentient being a threat and plans to eradicate it in anyway possible, thus bringing Chappie and his human comrades to a full-scale rebellion against the oppressive tyrant and his forces.

I found the film to be enjoyable and sometimes laughable because it reminded me of the themes in not just the humor of 'Short Circuit,' but a near-similar scenario shown in 'I, Robot' as well in terms of consciousness being tested. The movie does indeed demote Jackman's hero reputation from past movies as the villain Vincent Moore since the archetypes of his character here feel too cliché. Sigourney Weaver's role as CEO Michelle Bradley feels unclear on what side does she really condone, but I felt her character development could've stretched more than what is shown on screen. Since the movie's setting takes place once again in the derelict, yet prosperous areas of Johannesburg, South Africa, I can already tell that it comes from the same vein as District 9. Since Blomkamp admitted that he would helm the next 'Alien' film, only time will tell of what he really thinks about the critical outcome of Chappie's success.

To conclude, whether they are misdeeds or not, Chappie is a likable robot who can pull off extraordinary things as any human (albeit even outlandish), maybe something better. The entire movie is nowhere near the equivalent of District 9 story-wise, but as Chappie quotes, "I am consciousness. I am alive." This further emphasizes that he is capable of thinking on his own and upon his understanding, it's human nature.

The Fellowship of the Ring Reviews :
It is with no surprise that Peter Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring film has received such mixed critics. Many viewers refer to it as being childish, boring and uninteresting. Seems to me that it is bound to the same fate of Tolkien's books, destined to be a target for the same type of misunderstandings that keep attacking this literary masterpiece many decades after it's first publication.
Having read the books several years ago, I went to see this `impossible' film when it came out with many doubts on my mind. I really liked it, but left the theater with as many doubts as I had before. Was it perfect? Well, maybe not, but what an achievement. After watching it a few times on DVD, and thinking about it for some time now, I find myself loving this film more and more. Let me tell you why...
The Lord of the Rings is a fairy-tale of myth and fantasy. Peter Jackson directed a film that was considered, for a very long time, impossible to make, and not only for technical reasons. The narrative roots are incredibly long and detailed, and the storyline is deeply connected with the creation of a fantastic continent from a time unknown called `Middle Earth'. It's author, Tolkien, dedicated a considerable part of his life developing this continent's background, it's mythology and origins, it's different kinds of people, cultures and languages, and therefore it's geographic references are determinant to the unfolding of the story of the One Ring.
Peter Jackson went out to achieve the impossible and came out with a recreation of the original that is pure and true to the story in every detail. The first time the four hobbits meet a black rider on the road, for example, is absolutely faithful to the feeling of the book. The assault of the riders at Weathertop is another great example, and it captures that feeling of danger, density and atmosphere that are the main characteristics of the tale. Jackson also took some liberties with the story, and made some right choices along the way. If the so called `purists' may not approve the removal of Tom Bombadil altogether, it should be comprehensible that the travel from Hobbiton to Rivendel is a very long and detailed one and could easily make a movie on it's own. I felt more uneasy with how short the Council of Elrond was. In the book, the council is where the whole story of the rings is first explained, and many passages from the past ages of Middle Earth are unveiled. It is a fascinating moment of the story, that had to be shortened for obvious reasons. Still, after some consideration, I now agree with the options made by Peter Jackson, and think that the movie prologue narrated by Galadriel was the wisest choice. The magic is all there when Gandalf shuts his eyes the moment Frodo stands in the council and says `I will take the ring'. It is there at Moria's Gate, and at the fall of Boromir. It is a powerful film that doesn't fit the rhythm of the standard Hollywood action movie. It is a film that breeds, that takes time to unfold, it's tale branching in every direction.
I could go on and on, talking about all the different elements that bring this film close to perfection, but I'll end saying that deep down, this is not about action, beards and big monsters. The greatest thing about this film, to me, is that it brought me back to a time when I was in love with a different world where everything was possible. Reading The Lord of the Rings night after night, I came to understand what this thing of `mankind' really was all about. The corruption of absolute power, the importance and value of friendship, the inevitability of growing up, the strength of hope... That this film could capture that magic, and be a new bearer to it's message of humanism, is a statement to it's greatness. Gandalf's words, that even the smallest person may change the course of the world, and have a part to play in the destiny of all, are immortal.
In the end, this is a wonderful film, but that doesn't mean you are going to like it. I cannot tell you what it is like to see this film if you don't know or love the book. But I hope it may plant a seed on your heart to discover a great world of fantasy, beauty and humanity. I believe Tolkien would have liked that.

The Lord of the Rings Reviews:
As a movie watcher, I tend to become bored with the constant, overdone, overdrawn, underplayed, overdramatized performance and production quality of most Hollywood films. It's a trait that in recent years has sadly driven me away from most big budget American films. A decent idea will become mangled by the money making machine that is Hollywood, hoping to pump the most raw cash they can out of it before it drops dead in the street.
We all saw the catastophre of a failure that arose from the Matrix Franchise. Such immense hype and professed genius only made the failure all the more poignant for those of us that really wanted and expected more from the franchise.
That all being said, I must say that The Lord of the Rings is an amazingly powerful visual experience. Not even just a visual experience. Peter Jackson has crafted one of the finest written pieces of our era into THE quintessential epic. He supplements the brilliant storytelling of JRR Tolkien with one of the most awe-inspiring collection of films ever created.
The 7 hours of film that leads up to the Return of the King is only precursor though, when you sit and watch this film. It's just plain brilliance. Everything about the film is wonderful. The manner in which Jackson has arranged the scenes, detracting slightly from the original flow of the novel really helps to keep the suspense strong in all three story branches. The Tolkien humor is intact perfectly and the gallantry and just plain coolness of these heroes is plain amazing. (Check out Legolas in the BIG battle) It's all just too much for words.
If one were to gripe, and I suppose there will never be a film made that one cannot find a point at which to grip, it is painfully long running time here. I personally believe that this is the only way such a film could be made, true to the source material and completely engrossing, but I found myself more worried about the pain in my posterior than the emotional final minutes after 4 hours (including ads and previews) that I had spent in a cramped seat. As such, this will be all the better (at least for me) when it's release on DVD (can't wait for the extended...get to see the Sauroman scenes that they cut out).
As a film though, this is amazing. A true lasting legacy in story telling and now cinema. Bravo Mr. Jackson.
